Load balancing is an essential networking component. With many enterprises now building their business on cloud platforms, there is a growing need for load balancing services to complement cloud-based storage and server offerings. For infrastructure-as a-service providers (IaaS), Array Networks application delivery solutions support the necessary mix of platform options, management integration and on-demand pricing essential to profitably deploying cloud-based load balancing and secure access services.


Physical & Virtual Appliances

Array supports a full range of application delivery platforms, including dedicated, multi-tenant and virtual appliances, to give infrastructure service providers plenty of options for offering public and private cloud services and scaling cloud-based applications.


Physical and multi-tenant appliances are based on Array’s purpose-built APV and AG Series hardware, and vAPV and vxAG virtual appliances run on generic hypervisors such as VMware, XenServer and OpenXen.


  • Physical appliances are available in models ranging from 1.5 Gbps to 120 Gbps and may be allocated to a single customer in a private cloud scenario, or may be shared among multiple customers using virtual IPs (VIPs) to provide value-add load balancing services.
  • Multi-tenant appliances follow a partitioned resource approach – where multiple independent ADC instances on a single system are allocated their own CPU, memory, interfaces and SSL processing. Leveraging resource partitioning, cloud providers can reduce space, power and management overhead, while offering customers the performance advantages and guarantees associated with hardware application delivery solutions.
  • Virtual appliances support full feature parity with physical appliances, giving service providers the ability to offer higher-value advanced load balancing and secure access services while reaping the benefits of virtualization and cloud economics.

Management Integration

All Array load balancing and secure access solutions, whether physical, multi-tenant or virtual, integrate with infrastructure service provider cloud management systems for service automation. Whether you wish to integrate with Array solutions at the command line level using XML/RPC or leverage Array’s eCloud API™ for script-level integration with cloud management systems or communicate with Array solutions using OpenStack standards, Array enables automated provisioning and customer self-management that minimizes time to revenue and streamlines operations for enhanced profitability.


Pay-Per-Use Pricing

Flexible pricing is another point of alignment between Array application delivery solutions and cloud provider business models. Array pay-as-you-go, subscription and perpetual licenses allow cloud providers to choose pricing models that minimize upfront costs and business risks and eliminate the occurrence of paid but dormant resources.


Load Balancing & Secure Access

In addition to load balancing services, Array also supports services based on AG Series and vxAG secure access gateways. AG Series appliances may be used to create secure access service offerings, or they may be used to provide secure and segmented access for customer administrators to manage cloud services and provider administrators to manage cloud infrastructure. Moreover, Array application delivery appliances may be used in a dual approach – APV for customer services and AG for administrator traffic – to ensure security for all parties and avail the full capacity of APV appliances for service creation.
